I have decided to put all my communications with my music student on this page
The sound student, Adam. said their piece called Energetic-01 probably took inspiration from “Generic pop love songs, Based on and around 2014 pop songs, it's an uplifting song.”
Some of his inspirations and favourite producers are Joel Correy, Tiesto, and The Fat Rat. The latter two I have listened to a lot and am very fond of. I'm not surprised Adam is also inspired by these producers based on this very melodic and upbeat track.
My first impressions, if I had to find words, were… Very uplifting and rhythmic, colourful, emotional, lush, catchy chords, features consistent melodies with slight variation between each 16 bars, a solid foundation for a top-of-the-charts hit. Has a good solid melody with powerful vocals that cut in near the end, great use of reverb, echo, delay. Etc
We both felt/discussed the general vibe of the song and how it would fit into certain genres. And agreed with most of what each other had to say.
He said this piece was one of the more experimental ones where he spent less time planning and more time seeing what loops would fit. sort of a mixup of genres by throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. I find this very eminent of our project as a whole with its explorative and creative process. And I feel this leaves even more space for my piece to be less influenced with some sort of pre formed agenda from the get-go. Having my mind clear of specific words or traits I needed to include meant I was left with the opportunity to experiment greatly within my medium with aspects such as; mash nodes, blend shapes, simulations, etc. To create an abstract piece influenced by only my emotional response to the music and based on what I, as the visual creator felt.
The music student was not super up for telling me what to add or change in my animation when I first asked at the start of my project and felt I should decide, as he is not a visual artist and said he couldn't direct me much in this area, but when I did ask for any preferences he did mention a small game he used to play called Fuser, which he said might be discontinued as of now, but he made it clear the vibrant use of blue on all the drum kits were very flashy and I could lean towards using this type of blue for my drums if preferred. I did end up including the blue, as I felt it contrasted well with my red lips.
Fuser game with vibrant blues.

Here is my initial contact with the Music student, where I was asking for the individual separated sound files he used, so i could use them more efficiently within my project, and have them respond to different audio frequencies.
Just a quick reminder again here for the Music student to send the files.
He managed to send the files, and I got to work attaching my desired shapes and animations to my audio, now with a much more precise response and control.
After completing my animation, I wanted to show the music student Adam my work and ask for any feedback, but unfortunately, he was not in on the day that the rest of the class wanted to show their work. The best chance I had to get his feedback was now via email, so I sent another email with the link to my project and thanked him once again for providing such an amazing track for it.
Unfortunately as of yet, he hasn't gotten back to me in time to include his final feedback before submission, but I'm still looking forward to reading his take on it when he gets back to me.
